Teaching & Learning – 5 a day

Following on from the Staff Development week that focused on Inclusion and Ordinarily Available Provision – led by Sarah Le Good, Desiree Madelin and our Learning Support Team – it will come as no surprise that Inclusive-By-Design practice will be one of our key focuses for the coming academic year.

Through the Highlands College Approach we aim to champion diversity, equality of opportunity, inclusion & social equity to ensure that learners across all demographic groups achieve & progress as well as their peers.

The following guidance from the Education Endowment Foundation offers some simple suggestions to apply to your planning, delivery and assessment. Five-a-day: Explicit Instruction, Cognitive and Metacognitive Strategies, Scaffolding, flexible Grouping and Using Technology – click here for further information.

We will be following up the work we have started with Sarah Le Good in October as well as offering further CPD relating to updated Ordinarily Available Guidance for 2024.
