Volunteer with Jersey Trees for Life
At the end of last year, the island took a bit of a beating from Storm Ciarán, with many woodland areas being left decimated. The Decarb unit at GOJ have arranged a time for government employees (including us!) to spend a bit of time Volunteering with Jersey Trees for life to help to begin to restore the area around Val De La Mare.
As well as being something that will be good for the island community, it may also offer some wellbeing benefits with the opportunity to spend a little bit of time out in Nature doing some good .
Event details
Date: Tuesday, 13 February
Time: 9.30am to 12.30pm
Meeting Point: Top car park of Val de La Mare reservoir (opposite the entrance to the Amazin’ Maze)
The morning will consist of helping clear up following Storm Ciarán around Val de la Mare. The volunteering will be physical, however, there will be other jobs such as pruning and ivy cutting for those who may have physical restrictions.
What to bring
All equipment will be provided, but volunteers should bring their own gloves and waterproof footwear. We advise to bring plenty of water and a snack with you, too.
Getting there
As we strive for net-zero, we encourage all volunteers to use sustainable transport methods where appropriate. Consider cycling, walking, ridesharing with colleagues, or taking the bus to reduce your carbon footprint.
Logging your volunteering hours
Don’t forget to seek your line manager’s permission and log your volunteering hours under the ‘Absence’ section of MyView.
How to sign up
To sign up, email Decarb with the subject ‘February JTFL Volunteering.’
