Student Life Update

Happy New Year from all of us in Student Life!

This week saw the start of a free leadership programme for young women, delivered by Jersey Youth Service. Described as a course that helps young women see themselves as leaders,

in a world that often tells them they are not! Lean In is a global community dedicated to helping foster leadership, advancement, & inclusion for women in the workplace. For more information contact Ellen Marrett in Student life.

We emailed this information earlier the week to all Heads of Department to say we have been offered the opportunity for member of the Kooth engagement team to visit our students to explain what Kooth is about and to explain how support and information about young people’s mental health can be accessed via their website.

Kooth is a mental health and emotional wellbeing support organization for 11 -25-year-olds,  whose website states “whatever you’re feeling, we’re here to help. Get free, safe and anonymous support.” The website offers advice and activities to manage feelings of low mood or anxiety. There is a chat facility where young people can talk to someone anonymously to get help and advice about how they are feeling. If you want to look at their website the link is here Home – Kooth

We have arranged to have 3 sessions of 20 minutes on Thursday 25^th January to be held in UC226, a spreadsheet from Student Life has been circulated to sign your students up for a session at either 9.45 am, 10.30am or 11.30. The sessions won’t take long – 20 minutes and we can cater for up to 40 students per session.
