Snowdonia Trek
Three members of staff from Highlands College (Rob Moy, Vanessa Strauer and Liam McDermott) were recently in Snowdonia climbing the 2nd Highest Mountain in the UK, ascending over 1,085m.
Rob organised the Snowdonia Trek in support of The Gurkha Welfare Trust Jersey who have worked closely with the College by supporting students during their trips to Nepal.
17 people took on this Snowdonia Trek, with ages ranging from 24-74 and backgrounds including ex-military, finance, and law! The group met on three occasions prior to leaving for the mountain, walking for several miles up the north coast of Jersey in preparation for the trip, giving all participants an opportunity to gain insight into fitness and equipment needs.
Everyone reached the summit and gained some fantastic memories during the walk.
The group is already planning the 2024 trip to Ben Nevis – the UK’s highest mountain. If you are interested in donating towards the charity or coming on an adventure in 2024, please contact robert.moy@highlands.ac.uk
