Principal’s Update
Dear Colleagues,
Happy new half term!
Parent Partnership Award Re-Accreditation
Just before half term, we welcomed an external assessor from the Leading Parent Partnership Award. I’m delighted to share that we were successfully re-accredited for another three years. Huge thanks to Paul Bisson and Eileen Buicke-Kelly for their work in preparing for the assessment.
The assessor highlighted several strengths, including:
- The half-termly Parent and Carer Newsletter
- Increased involvement of staff as EAL Champions
- The work of the Parent and Carer Working Group
These efforts were recognised as contributing to improved student attendance and positive destinations. The assessor was particularly impressed by how all staff understood the importance of partnership with parents, especially for our sixth form students.
Campus Development Update
Work continues gathering support for our new campus development. We are currently drafting an outline benefits case and have been asked to provide updates on our site specification requirements. More details will follow as this progresses.
November Resit Exams – English and Maths GCSE
This week marks the November resit opportunities for English and Maths. These exams are for students who may have already taken these qualifications two or three times at school and are close to the Grade 4 boundary.
Please continue to support and encourage your students to attend and approach these exams with confidence.
Whole Staff Meeting – Online
Due to the demand for examination space, this half-term’s Whole Staff Meeting will be held online. I hope this format will allow for maximum accessibility for all colleagues. I look forward to seeing you there.
Key Events This Week
- Liaison Meeting with Hautlieu School
- Jersey Curriculum Council Attendance
Our Vice Principal for Curriculum, Kate Hobbs, will be presenting on the evolving landscape of Level 3 qualifications in the UK. This includes:

- Our approach in Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man is to secure qualifications that support progression into further education and employment.

A highlight in our college calendar, the awards are sponsored by many of our employer partners who support us in delivering to 400 apprentices.
Staff Well-being
We are aware of increasing staff illness, with colleagues also facing significant challenges within their wider family groups. Please remember that support is available through:
- Our Wellbeing Champions
- Your Line Manager
- The Government of Jersey Support Services
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need support.
Media and Communications
Over the coming weeks, you’ll see a series of Jersey Evening Post interviews featuring members of the Senior Leadership team covering our strategic plans and priorities for the next five years. These will help communicate our vision to the wider public. Thank you to Jessica Tidswell for organising this.
I hope classes and exams go smoothly this week. I look forward to seeing you around campus and at our online staff meeting.
With very best wishes,
Jo
