Principal’s Update
Dear colleagues,
Well, it’s Easter already!
This week at SLT we are focusing on our regular Health and Safety report and have Stuart Penn in to brief us on Skills Jersey activities. I will be preparing for our staff meeting on the 15th of April which will feature:-
- the Quality Improvement Plan for the College which arises from ongoing self-assessment activities;
- The New Strategic Plan – I have until first quarter 2025 to develop and complete this with the wider leadership team and Governors. You will be the first stakeholders we work with and then students and then external groups;
- Summer Works schedules so you know what maintenance will be carried out well in advance. There is over £3.5 million pounds of urgent repairs and improvements needed to the estate over 2 years;
- Plus, tea and coffee, mini pastries, and a chance to catch up together.
Last week, the Governors and I met with PWC to explore developing an impact assessment framework for all the social and economic work we do for Jersey. This is something I’ve had on my to do list for a while which will inform the Strategic Plan 2025 to 2029 in sense of priorities having the highest impact, as well as our case for a new campus.
This week I am also meeting students with focus questions as part of a termly engagement with them and with the SLT to get their feedback on their learning experience.
Over Easter, SLT will be in as usual, except for bank holidays, with Rob Moy providing main cover and the rest of the team in on various days to ensure there is a Point of Contact as usual during the term break, for some support staff who are in and for external contacts.
I hope you enjoy a lovely Easter. You have earnt a restful break. Let’s hope the sun shines and Summer begins.
Best wishes
Jo
