Principal’s Update
JPQ Review Update
Over the past few months, we have engaged two curriculum advisors to review our JPQ programme, as we have been running this for five years now. The reviewers had the opportunity to visit classes across the college, speak to staff and students.
Last week the reviewers returned to college and met with our student support departments. They were able to discuss, with learning support and employability, the structure of the courses. The reviewers also had the opportunity to hold an employer focus group.
Following this review, we will be sharing the findings with Heads of department when the report has been completed. The Quality team are grateful for the support given to the reviewers by heads, teaching staff and support staff.
Tender for a New Website
Since the start of 23/24 Academic Year, the College has been engaged with GoJ and Tenet Procurement Services to develop the Procurement Strategy and Invitation to Tender Documents for a new College and University Website. This week the College presented the documents at the Commercial Approvals Board, and we are awaiting approval to commence the Invitation Stage – positive steps forward.
“As we embrace the digital era, it is paramount that our college maintains a dynamic and informative website to effectively showcase our curriculum and wider educational offerings. A well-crafted online presence not only enhances visibility but also serves as a vital tool for prospective students and stakeholders seeking information about our commitment to excellence in education.”
Blue Monday
Thank you, Michael, and the Academy Staff for making Blue Monday (15th Jan) one that gave everyone the opportunity to meet Colleagues over a muffin and smoothy. What a lovely way to start the week, including a wellbeing pledge to set your stall for 2024. (image attached)
JEC – Powering Down Electrical Supply
During the weekend of 10th & 17th February the JEC informed us that an electrical system power down on the College Campus is required to allow them to work on the main switchboard. The proposed time is 7:30am – 4:30pm on Saturday 10th or 17th February, however, this may extend or decrease depending on how the work progresses. The positive news is that it will allow the college to evaluate the Emergency Lights, Fire and Access / Egress Systems and IT Resilience.
Facilities and IT will have staff available to support the power down, and to reinstate the estate and IT infrastructure over the weekend. During this period, you will have access to Microsoft 365 and EBS Data. Please could I ask all those who will be on leave during ½ Term to defrost the fridge and remove any perishable goods.
