Positive Behaviours and Safer De-escalation Training (Online)
Following the briefing last week relating to Lockdown Procedures some staff have asked for some refresher training in relation to managing challenging behaviours and techniques for safer de-escalation.
There are two online courses available through Connect People:
Maybo Positive Approaches to Behaviour
The Maybo Positive Approaches to Behaviour training is for all employees who have the potential to be exposed to challenging behaviour from both service users or members of the public, in their job role, this includes both physical and verbal aggression Please be advised that this module / unit uses language associated with difficult and challenging events, which could be an emotional trigger if you have experienced trauma in the past.
Safer De-escalation – Children and Young People
This eLearning course is designed for those supporting children and young people who may encounter complex behaviours. It explores de-escalation strategies to resolve a difficult situation and achieve a positive and safer outcome while maintaining personal safety.
Both courses can be found by searching ‘MAYBO‘ in Connect People, View My Learning section.

There are also some places available on the following course sun by the CYPES SEMHIT Team:
- Positive Approaches to Behaviour and Safer De-escalation – 23rd March 2026 – 9am to 2.30pm – JET Training rooms (Highlands Campus)
If you are interested in attending please liaise with your line manager and submit a staff development request.
We are also liaising with the CYPES Behaviour Team to arrange further face-to-face training for later in the academic year and will update staff once this has been confirmed.
