Modern Masculinity

Highlands students and staff were privileged to hear from one of the most influential voices on Modern masculinity. Chris Hemmings is a BACP psychotherapist and coach who specialises in working with men and boys – focussing on helping them to develop their emotional well-being.
He is a journalist, producing and presenting numerous documentaries on the subject of men and masculinity for the BBC, whilst also writing about it for numerous national newspapers.
Chris talked to 3 audiences of students, discussing the need to move away from the demonising term, ‘Toxic Masculinity’ and building the conversation of why men and boys need to feel dominance, hurting all of society and what can we do to address it.
A very thought provoking and challenging talk was also heard by staff, who were able to question and discuss, the cultural change needed on a macro and micro level.
