Menopause Symptoms Recognised
Since their formation, the Menopause Network have worked very hard to promote awareness of menopause and its symptoms.
In May 2022 our Chief Executive Officer, Suzanne Wylie, signed the 51 Employer Pledge, together with Connétable Buchanan and Connétable Mezbourian on behalf of their parishes. By signing the 51 Employer Pledge the Government commits to it’s own 14 point pledge for the menopause.
The pledge agrees that we, as an organisation, treat menopause with the same seriousness, care and support as we do with other physical and mental health conditions. We should take an individual approach, being aware that everyone’s menopause journey is different and should be considered on a case by case basis.
Following the updating of the sickness policy to recognise menopause symptoms, the Menopause Network asked for an additional sickness absence reason code to be added to our recording systems.
By adding this code, we can ensure the accurate logging of absence attributed to symptoms experienced when going through the menopause and it opens up the conversation between line managers and staff to discuss any workplace alterations and additional support that may be required.
The Menopause Network thank everyone involved for making this change happen.

We’re delighted to say that line managers can find the new sickness code in MyView and eRostering.
