Jersey 2023 Pride
On a bright and sunny Saturday, Jersey residents and visitors came together to celebrate love, diversity, and equality at the Jersey 2023 Pride Parade. Organised by a dedicated team of volunteers, Traci O’Dea (ACE), Pawel Kulon (Hair and Beauty), and Nicola Brown (Students Life), with invaluable assistance from Romano, PJ, Mikki, Deborah, and Vanessa this year’s parade was a resounding success.
The vibrant procession began at Royal Square and wound its way through the heart of St Helier, culminating in a grand celebration at People Park. Hundreds of participants and spectators lined the streets, creating a jubilant atmosphere filled with colourful costumes, music, and an overwhelming sense of unity.
Highlands College played a prominent role in this year’s Pride Parade, demonstrating its commitment to inclusivity and diversity. A striking banner bearing the college’s logo and message of support for the LGBT+ community led the procession. The banner not only showcased the college’s dedication to fostering an inclusive environment but also served as a beacon of acceptance for all.
In addition to the banner, Highlands College also had a vibrant stall within the community tent at People Park. This stall served as a hub of information, engagement, and support for attendees. Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the college’s inclusive policies, academic offerings, and support services. The college team were on hand to engage in meaningful conversations and answer questions from prospective students and community members alike.
“The Jersey 2023 Pride Parade was a fantastic success, and it is a testament to the spirit of inclusivity and acceptance that our community at Highlands College embraces,” said Pawel. “We are grateful for the support of Highlands College and the volunteers who made this day possible. It was a joyful celebration of love and diversity, and we can’t wait to continue this tradition in the years to come.”
The Jersey 2023 Pride Parade was more than just a procession; it was a powerful statement of solidarity, acceptance, and love. As the sun set on People Park, it left behind a trail of smiles, laughter, and a deep sense of unity that will continue to shine brightly throughout the community.
