MA Education & HND Computing Interviews
MA Education – in partnership with the University of Plymouth
As you may be aware, this academic year we launched an on-island MA Education Programme in partnership with the University of Plymouth.
The first cohort of learners comprises 12 teachers from across the island drawn from all sectors of Education including Early Years, Primary, Secondary, Further Education and Higher Education.
In past few days, the first cohort received their marks for their first module – Critical Perspectives on Inclusive Education, Disability and Diversity – and the Programme Lead, Dr Elizabeth Done, commented that they are ‘an exceptional group in terms of the quality of assignments and their high marks’.
Of the 12 learners working towards their MA, 4 are from Highlands College and in their first module they explored some interesting themes for their first assignment:
Annabel Masefield conducted a critical review of policy and practice relating to transition to and from Higher Education in Jersey.
Paul Bisson carried out a critical review of the social factors influencing increased referrals in Jersey in his assignment titled: ADHD on the Rise.
Simon MacDonald explored inclusive education in Jersey: navigating challenges in a selective and exclusive system.
Tanya Miller posed the question: Does inclusion work both ways? A critical review of the inclusivity of teaching as a career for neurodiverse professionals.
If you would like to find out more about the MA Education and their experiences, I’m sure they would be keen to talk to you about these and share their learning.
In addition, we will soon be opening the application process for cohort 2 so if you are interested in finding out more, please get in touch with Stuart Philip.
