_____
Name: Naomi Ilton
Job role: Finance Administrator
Why did you want to join Highlands College?: I have worked in finance for almost 20 years. I have two girls, Luna aged 8 and Seren aged 7. I wanted a role where I could apply all the finance knowledge and experience I have gained over the years, into a role where there was less pressure and gave us a better work/life balance as a family.
Are you from Jersey?: I’m from Dublin, Ireland. I moved to Jersey 15 years ago. I still really miss the mountains and lakes in Ireland and surfing in the Irish sea!
Tell us something we may not know about you: I’m a huge outdoor person, and as a family, we spend most of our free time walking on the cliff paths, sea swimming and visiting all the Heritage sites.
Name: Marta Hutchins-Domanska
Job role: Exam Supervisor
Why did you want to join Highlands College?: I wanted to join Highlands to try something new after leaving the world of corporate finance. I always wanted to do a more meaningful and fulfilling job which would enable me to help people. I like the idea of helping and making a difference to the lives of people who are coming here to study.
Are you from Jersey?: I’m originally from the beautiful country of Poland which I miss every day, and hope to go back one day to. I’ve been living in Jersey for over 24 years now, so it’s definitely my home for now. Growing up in Poland was fun, love and happiness. I have a big family and loads of family friends, so my home was always full of lovely people sitting around a table full of delicious food my mum was making, and fun and music was in the air especially in the summer where the evenings were long and warm.
Tell us something we may not know about you: I love food. I love eating it but also, I’m a good cook myself. I did C&G chef qualifications here at Highlands a few years ago, for my own pleasure. I will experiment with different flavours, but I like the traditional, simple recipes showing off the nice flavours of the good quality ingredients. Some of my favourite chefs to follow would be Yotam Ottolenghi, Erin French or Silvia Colloca.
Name: Chuks John
Job role: HE co-ordinator in Construction and Civil Engineering
Why did you want to join Highlands College?: I wanted to join Highlands to be part of an environment that aligns with my professional aspirations and values. The opportunity to contribute to a reputable organisation with a focus on excellence in education and development deeply resonated with me. I saw it as a platform where I could apply my expertise in construction and civil engineering to inspire and shape future professionals. Additionally, I was drawn to the supportive and collaborative culture that fosters growth and innovation.
Are you from Jersey?: No, I’m not from Jersey. I’ve been living in the UK mainland for the past 14 years, and it shares similar British values, which I’ve come to appreciate deeply. I grew up in Brighton and Bristol, where the community emphasized key values like respect, hard work, and diversity. While there are cultural nuances, the shared sense of community and resilience feels very familiar and comparable to life in the UK.
Tell us something we may not know about you: I have been practising civil engineering for over 16 years and serve as a course lead in this field. I’m currently pursuing chartered civil engineer status as part of my personal professional development. Additionally, I’m passionate about mentoring and enjoy inspiring others to reach their potential.
Name: Nuala Greenwood
Job role: IT Administrator
Why did you want to join Highlands College?: I had previously work at Highlands as a visiting lecturer in Information Technology and always enjoyed interacting with the students and see them achieve. Now back as IT Administration I enjoy the busy interactive environment and also allows me to keep up with the latest technology.
Are you from Jersey?: No, I was born in Ireland and came to Jersey in the summer of 87 and still here!!
Tell us something we may not know about you: I was an All-Ireland Set dancing champion in my teens.
