Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation – February 164 mile Challenge
(message from CYPES)
The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation are challenging schools and colleges to get involved in their 164 mile challenge this February. The challenge involves walking, jogging or running the equivalent of the distance from Jersey Hospital to Southampton Hospital during February, individually or in teams, to raise funds and awareness for the Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation. The Foundation provides support for families with children receiving medical care, as outlined here.
By taking part, and sharing your involvement via newsletters and social media accounts, we can collectively help to raise funds and awareness of the Foundation, so that more Jersey families can receive support, as well as encouraging students to be active and support local charities.
How can you get involved? Teams will usually be between 2-6 people, but if each school were to put in a staff team and get as many students involved as possible, this will help to spread the word. Last year, some schools did this by asking students to walk/run a certain distance as part of PE lessons, whilst others arranged for whole year group walks throughout the month, so that each year group was completing the distance as a cohort. It would be fantastic to see as many schools as possible getting their students involved whilst also entering staff teams, and we would love to see schools sending out information about the challenge to parents and carers, too.
This poster can be used to promote the challenge, and this user guide can support schools in entering teams via RaceNation, which will then produce a fundraising page for you. There is a support contact e-mail address at the bottom of the guide, should you have any queries.
Prizes will be awarded to the Primary and Secondary schools / colleges that raise the most money, and for the schools that have the highest participation rate, pro rata, based upon number on roll. At the end of the month, please send through the number of students who took part in the challenge to Alan Falle (a.falle@vcj.sch.je).
Should schools have any queries, they should contact Alan Falle or use the RaceNation support e-mail as in the user guide.
