Estates Update
JEC – Powering Down Electrical Supply
During the weekend of 10th or 17th February the JEC informed us that an electrical system power down on the College Campus is required to allow them to work on the main switchboard. The proposed time is 7:30am – 4:30pm on Saturday 10th or 17th February, however, this may extend or decrease depending on how the work progresses. The positive news is that it will allow the college to evaluate the Emergency Lights, Fire and Access / Egress Systems and IT Resilience.
IMPORTANT NOTICE – FIRE DOORS BEING WEDGED OPEN (Art, Media & Technical buildings)
A reminder, that under the fire regulations it is illegal to block fire escape routes and wedge fire doors open.
Please can you ensure that all fire doors, in your areas, are not wedged open or fire routes blocked.

| COVID-19 – reminder of current situation (Please note the College does not have any LFT kits available)
To align with the final phase of Jersey’s COVID-19 response, with effect from 1 August 2023 , any instances where an employee is off sick with COVID-19 will be recorded as sickness absence on MyView and subject to ordinary sick leave procedures. This means that a medical certificate will be required after three days of absence, like any other period of sickness absence. In line with the revised guidance, if anyone experiences symptoms of COVID-19, or is unwell, like any other absence, they should stay home until they feel better. Islanders should seek medical advice and contact their GPs if they have concerns or if symptoms persist. COVID-19 related absence will be treated as a managing attendance indicator in line with the managing attendance policy. |
Please note, that if you are absent from work due to covid, this now counts towards normal sickness which means you will need to provide a medical certificate on the 3rd day.
Although there are no policies or laws in place anymore regarding isolating, it is recommended that they stay home for 5 days.

Sustainability
RECYCLING
Every building now has recycling bins see location map below.
As you can see, we have produced 3575 bags of waste so far, however only 140 bags have been recycled.
Although September started off well, we have had a decline, with December being very poor.
Could you all make a concerted effort and encourage your students to use the recycling bins.
