COVID-19 de-escalation, what this means for managers.
To align with the final phase of Jersey’s COVID-19 response, with effect from 1August, any instances where an employee is off sick with COVID-19 will be recorded as sickness absence on MyView and subject to ordinary sick leave procedures. This means that a medical certificate will be required after three days of absence, similar to any other period of sickness absence.
In line with the revised guidance, if anyone experiences symptoms of COVID-19, or is unwell, similar to any other absence, they should stay home until they feel better. Islanders should seek medical advice and contact their GPs if they have concerns or if symptoms persist.
COVID-19 related absence will be treated as a managing attendance indicator in line with the managing attendance policy.
Please note, that if you are absent from work due to covid, this now counts towards normal sickness which means you will need to provide a medical certificate on the 3rd day.
Although there are no policies or laws in place anymore regarding isolating, it is recommended that they stay home for 5 days.
