What Our Students Have Been Up To
It’s been a busy week for our students, with fantastic opportunities to connect learning to industry.
Automotive students at the Jersey Rally
On Friday and Saturday (10–11 October), a group of our Automotive students got up close to the action at the Jersey Rally. They had the chance to meet drivers, explore the rally car setups, and gain fascinating insights into motorsport engineering. It was a hands-on and high-octane learning experience that left everyone inspired.
Sam Touzel, 2024 Jersey Rally Winner and British Champion, spoke to the students about his Rally 2 Ford Fiesta – which is top class rally car with all the bells and whistles!

Business students shine at IoD Shadowing Scheme Awards
On the evening of Thursday 16 October, several of our Business students attended the IoD Shadowing Scheme Awards. This prestigious event celebrated their success in completing the programme, which offers Year 12 students valuable leadership experience by shadowing Directors and Senior Managers across various sectors. Sponsored by KPMG, the scheme continues to provide a powerful stepping stone for future leaders.

Students engage in sustainability conversations
Earlier in the week, on Wednesday 15 October, Business student Lectica and Uniformed Services student Tom represented Highlands at the Sustainable Business Conference. They took part in discussions and workshops focused on global change, ethical consumerism, Doughnut Economics, and sustainable leadership. The event also gave them the chance to connect with other sixth form students and industry professionals, sparking thoughtful conversations about creating a more sustainable future.
