🔹Principal’s Update
Dear Colleagues,
I hope you had a break at half term. I managed to get a lot of jobs done including a daily email check-in for here. I also found time to read and rest 😊.
Thank you to our Education Support Staff who joined me today for a presentation on the updated framework for learning support and technician colleagues. There is as you know a Q&A session in the Great Hall on the 27th of March – see Events calendar.
This week teaching staff are working on the re-development of the Jersey Progression Qualification. This work will be competed by the end of the summer term for launch in September. Thank you to Heather Audoire for her leadership of the curriculum project.
Please ensure that all risk assessments have been reviewed and updated for 2025 – over 200 are centralised and being assessed currently. Advice can always be sought from Rob Moy in Ben Smith’s absence on paternity leave. Rob will be volunteering in Kenya from the 1st to the 14th of March and so although we can refer to CYPES, Heads of Department should have updated the RAs by now.
The new Immersive Tech room has been fitted, and Rebecca Stephenson will be rolling out training over the coming weeks. Keep an eye on the bulletin for further updates.
The Peer Review, which took place in Guernsey, was successful and Kate Hobbs who led our team will be sharing their learning in future meetings. Both GTA and ourselves are developing better baseline assessment tools for students entering college and so working together will speed up and enrich that work.
This week at SLT we are focusing on finance, UCJ Graduation plans, staffing (absence reporting, recruitment, succession planning), development plans in administration services and stakeholder engagement.
It does feel very much as if spring is in the air. With only 16 weeks until staff development days at the end of term, it is the time to maximise learning.
I hope you enjoy your week.
Best wishes,
Jo
