What is ‘CoppaFeel!’?
On Tuesday this week, Highlands hosted the charity CoppaFeel! who delivered a fantastic information session to our students. In total, 58 students attended and participated in the session.
CoppaFeel! was founded in 2009 by twin sisters, Kris and Maren after Kris received a diagnosis of incurable breast cancer. Kris and Maren wanted people to become proactive about their own health and so the idea for CoppaFeel! was born.
Coppafeel! exists to Encourage, Educate and Empower people.
Students who attended the event received a range of information resources as well as promotional stickers and badges. Student life have a supply of these great CoppaFeel! resources so please come and grab some for yourself and tell your students. Supplies are limited so be quick!

Parent & Carer Wellbeing Event
On Wednesday evening, Student Life working with Paul Bisson and Mike Watkins, hosted our first parent engagement event to raise awareness and provide information about mental health and wellbeing services available to support young people.
The lounge looked transformed by the creative skills of Deborah Macdonald and a few bunches of daffodils! It was an informal evening with tea, coffee and cake and was attended by CAMHS, Mind Jersey, the Yes project and our own counsellors. Parents took the opportunity to talk to each agency and also to members of Student Life.
Hair and Beauty students supported by Victoria Ferreira provided hand massages that were gratefully received by parents attending and Luke Billings ran meditation sessions also. We had background music provided on the piano by Richard Poignand. I think those who joined us would agree that the atmosphere was great and it was a positive and successful evening.
Thank you to all who supported us with what we hope to be a regular event.
