Does your building work for you?
Does your college building work for you? If you work in any Government of Jersey school or college, no matter your role, your views are urgently needed.
| What’s happening:
As a requirement of the Estate Strategy, the Government of Jersey’s Property Holdings (JPH) will produce a Strategic Property Asset Management Plan. This will establish clear strategic approaches to the use of government property assets and help meet the needs of government services for the short, medium and long term. As part of this, JPH is reviewing the suitability of the buildings we operate from, looking at how our portfolio can be adapted to best suit the requirements of all users, but particularly for schools, how the buildings can meet the needs for students and our workforce. To best understand how well our buildings work for you, we need to gather your views on the functionality, performance, and sustainability of your workplace. Your user experience will be compared with quantitative evidence to inform how suitable the building is for the service within it, in this instance, how suitable our schools and other buildings are for those who use them.
Why this is important: We need to ensure that all parts of the estate – including the education estate – is suitable and up to scratch so that we can provide the highest possible education standards. It makes such a difference to users and staff if our school buildings are: · of the right calibre · comfortable, and · easily accessible It is important that we have more views from you and your colleagues to understand how suitable our education estate buildings are now, and which are needed to help guide us in the development of the future estate and direct which properties need focused attention.
What we need: Please take a few minutes to complete the suitability survey to tell us about the conditions, functionality, and the accessibility of where you work, including the education estate. Essentially, are the buildings you work in fully functional and fit for purpose?
Have your say on where you work – Government of Jersey – Citizen Space
The survey has been extended until 9 June and so please take a few moments to pass this on to your teams to support this important work.
What else is happening: To understand the condition of our buildings, which will also be used to inform the Asset Management Plan, JPH has commissioned a full condition survey of the whole estate. This work will be carried out from 15 May to 31 August 2023. JPH is due to publish the Education Asset Management Plan this year. |
