🔹The Maths Circus Came to Town!
Over 200 Year 7 students from four secondary schools came to Highlands to enjoy all the fun of the Highlands College Maths Circus.
Students from Haute Vallee, JCG, Beaulieu, and La Passerelle secondary schools all enjoyed an array of fun mathematical activities in the Great Hall on the 16th and 17th of June.
Mystic Matthew enthralled everyone with mathematical conjuring, and the mysterious Pythagoras cup. The squeaking of geometrical balloon modelling could be heard across the college, as could the crash of Jenga towers! There were mazes, games, and puzzles galore as well as origami and tessellation drawing. Aerodynamics was explored with paper aeroplanes, helicopters, and boomerangs zooming around the hall. Mathematical Escher illusions were there to explore, and who knew that you could fit over 500 buttons in one jam jar!
A fabulous time was had by all, thanks everyone and you can be rest assured that you don’t have to listen to The Greatest Showman music again for at least a few months…
