🔹Students Swing into Summer with a Smile
The day out at Rocco’s was the perfect finale to a year of enrichment and wellbeing activities run by Student Services. From relaxed base room chats to off-site outings like crazy golf, the programme has helped students feel more connected, confident, and cared for.
Thirteen students attended the event, representing a range of departments including Health and Social Care, Animal Management, Media, IT/Digital Games, and Welding.
The weather was perfect—if a little hotter than expected—as we divided into two groups, each led by a Keyworker, and enjoyed 18 holes of crazy golf. The students had a fantastic time. Being outdoors and away from college helped them de-stress and fully enjoy the activity. They shared that it was a great opportunity to make new friends and socialise with peers they wouldn’t normally interact with.
Throughout the year, the base room has fostered many friendships. Students describe it as a “quiet place to relax” and a space where they feel “safe and cared for.” The strong relationships formed between Learning Support and the students have reduced anxiety around college and boosted their confidence. This has directly led to increased participation in enrichment activities, with this event seeing the highest attendance so far.
